Virtual content creation
Camera running …. and actionn
Even though we are not a dedicated film production company, we regularly shoot high-quality video and image material for our customers. Sounds like a time-consuming side job? Far from it! We work with virtual production techniques, allowing us to use our development pipeline outside of traditional application development. Curious?
Our movie star – your PC
Through virtual content production, for example, we offer our customer and partner Schenker Technologies a smart shortcut to perfect product visualization. A closer look at their high-performance hardware shows why this makes sense in this use case in particular, because at first glance their products hardly differ.
But is it even worth the effort, when it’s much more about the inner values of the laptops and desktop PCs? Absolutely! Because the products are primarily sold online, and the purchase decision depends not only on the specs, but also on convincing product images. Accordingly, it’s not just a matter of putting the products themselves in the right light, but much more of illustrating their individual features, USPs and differences. And with hardware that is potentially easy to stage, this quickly leads to time-consuming and cost-intensive productions.
Schenker Technologies had already relied on renderings instead of ‘real’ photo shoots, but it was an inflexible offline rendering process in co-operation with an external agency – so we had a better idea…
Render it yourself
Instead of outsourcing renderings, the in-house marketing department can now create its own product shots. After all, they know best how to showcase the features and USPs of each model. But marketers don’t have to dive too deep into the tech bubble; an introductory workshop is enough, because we create the perfect conditions and deliver a well-oiled pipeline.
We use the existing CAD data to create a three-dimensional model of the product, which looks deceptively real thanks to the use of appropriate materials. We place it in the desired 3D scene and prepare the lighting setup and animations. And this is where the marketing team takes over: they take care of the fine-tuning and render your photos and videos themselves. This makes it easy for them to get the perfect product shots in as many variations as they want.
Fin
Thanks to our collaborative rendering pipeline, our customer finally has full control over their product visualisation and, compared to completely external commissions, saves not only time and money, but above all the effort involved in project management and feedback loops.
A nice gimmick: as an official NVIDIA partner, all product shots are now rendered exclusively on the manufacturer’s graphics cards. Using high-performance hardware, we minimise the rendering time to just a few minutes. Smart!
